At the Dark End of the Street

You think you know the story of Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Or do you?

I attended a fabulous reading this evening by Danielle McGuire. She was reading from her new book, At the Dark End of the Street: Black Women, Rape, and Resistance – A New History of the Civil Rights Movement from Rosa Parks to the Rise of Black Power. There was organizing going on in Montgomery and elsewhere in response to the rape of black women way before Rosa Parks sat down on a bus. McGuire’s amazing book will explain American history to you in a new way. See: atthedarkendofthestreet.com
